Rihan looked at her, hesitant but steady. “When did you fall for me?” Jahnvi held his gaze. “I didn’t fall,” she said softly. “I grew into it.” He frowned slightly, not in disbelief — but in confusion. “What does that mean?” She took a quiet breath. “The day your father passed away,” she said. “I saw you on the terrace. You thought no one noticed.” His expression shifted. “You were crying so silently… like you didn’t want anyone to hear you break.” He looked away. “You were holding your father’s watch,” she continued. “And I remember thinking that if life was going to make you this strong, then I wanted to be the place where you didn’t have to be.” Her voice didn’t shake. “I didn’t understand love back then. But that was the day I chose you.” A pause. “I promised myself I would give you everything you deserve — even if you never asked for it.” This time, he didn’t respond immediately.
